With Alisa Herr, founder & CEO of Unity Digital Agency

What's next in UX: Informing the public via data-driven storytelling

We all have stories to tell. Whether it’s why your business is better than your competition, how you got to where you are today, or about the latest political kerfuffle, data makes any story more engaging. At this talk, we will look at good and bad data visualizations, examine how they simplify information, and explore how incorporating the good ones can clarify and strengthen stories. You’ll leave with data, inspiration, and tools for making your data more understandable to a wider audience. Please bring your questions to the event!
Alisa Herr is a creative thinker, maker, and doer with a passion for everything open source. As the founder of Unity Digital Agency, she uses design and technology to elevate organizations driven to serve the common good. She is an award-winning web developer and has developed over a hundred websites for small businesses and nonprofits. Alisa taught herself HTML in 1996 and has spent 20 years honing her skills in a variety of programming languages. She is a judge for the SXSW Interactive Innovation Awards, and regularly speaks at events across North Carolina. Before founding Unity, Alisa was CTO of the nonprofit EducationNC where she designed and developed a customized publication platform in WordPress, featuring industry-leading multimedia content design and data visualization.
As always with our meetups, this is not a "sit back and listen" meeting, but a chance for us to bring together a cross disciplinary group of people to think about the relationship between UX, technology, and art. Mostly though, we'll get to know one another, and have some fun.

Please RSVP using the button below.
Also, please forward this email to whomever you think might be interested!

Special thanks to our 2016-17 sponsors - LexisNexis, Deutsche Bank Global Technologies, Ipreo, PointSource, the ePartners Program and the NC State Engineering Foundation.
